I have my assessment for Pulmonary Rehab on 17th April. Not sure what to expect but hope it will help me to cope a bit better.

Assessment
Hi
Typical is one hour exercise suited to abilities, increased each session. Plus one hour education.
Can’t ever remember anyone saying that they regretted going to pulmonary rehab but do remember lots of positive outcomes. The assessment is to make sure that you are able to benefit from the course. The assessment I had involved a review of medical history, being weighed and doing a six minute walk to and from marked points. Good luck and enjoy it!
I am half way through my rehab ,I am a lot fitter and have learn a lot about my condition ,enjoy it
Hi Jackieshep Pulmonary rehab is just medically trained assistants monitoring you doing exercise, using stretchy rubber bands, peddle machines, bikes, treadmills, steps and chairs etc. It is designed to gradually increase your fitness levels. Think of it as going to the gym eith a couole of medically trained folks observing and monitoring you, along with 15 or so other people. They assess you before you start to make sure you can cope medically with it. I hope this helps!
Thank you everyone. I am looking forward to this now!
When you have finished the course you will be reassessed, and have to do the six minutes walk again. This will give the assistants and you an indication of how your fitness has improved, (or not:))
I too went on a Pulmonary Rehab course. Much the same happened as has been outlined in the replies you've had. Don't worry if it starts off a bit difficult, it does get easier as you improve, as you surely will. Go and enjoy it.
Hello Jackie. I have my first appt at rehab on 3rd April and will be happy to let you know how it goes
Hello Jackie. I have emphysema and copd and I got sent to Pulmonary rehab. The one I go to is a class. They assess how you are when walking and get you doing exercises. I found this helps no end. I did what they told me and feel much better for it. Also you meet people who are in the same boat as you are, some are better some are worse. I went twice a week for 6 weeks on the NHS, now I go once a week, but I have to pay. It is for 1 hour but I feel better for it and I do some of the exercises at home. I walk more as well, when I feel up to it. Well worth a try. They are very friendly people. Good luck. 👍🤓
You will love it.
