Always coughing
Hello South, yes, i have, sort of. Around 10 years ago, i had a very bad Cough, which was unresponsive to any Meds. They kept asking whether i had worked with Chemicals, asbestos etc. i hadn't . They bought a Specialist over 😷🏥 and he asked if I'd had chicken Pox. I had. So he decided I'd had chicken Pox pneumonia, which has caused quite a lot of damage to my Lungs. I was almost 52 when i found this out!. Luckily no operation though. 😊
That's interesting because I was diagnosed with Non Specific Interstitial pneumonitis last year. They asked me the same questions...asbestos, birds etc. It was then thought that a bout of rheumatic fever when I was 12 may have caused my immune system to go faulty. However as a 6mth old baby I had Measles, chicken pox and pneumonia...ive never heard of chicken pox pneumonia but now I'm wondering if my fate was set almost at birth!
I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis 5 years ago aged 70, but it was put down to having whooping cough and bronchitis aged two, so yes is the answer. The medical profession hope that the incidence of bronchiectasis will decrease since the introduction of immunisation. I hope so.
Strange how easily lung conditions are - for some, put down to smoking. I had double pneumonia as a toddler, whooping cough when I was four as well as chicken pox and measles when I was a little older and bronchitis many times until I moved out of the Trent valley area. In 2015 - 9yrs after I'd stopped smoking, I was diagnosed with mild COPD, my X-ray showed 'emphysemic changes' - all put down to smoking.🤔
Trent Valley has a lot to answer for!😊 So many of us brought up there have Breathing difficulties. Don't think the industry that was around there, all those puffing factory chimneys helped. Living in a Valley, pollution just hangs around. I moved to the Coast. Better for the Lungs. 😊
Very interesting thread.
