Buss pass for COPD
Hi to get a bus pass you need to be on certain benefits. Have a look at the Gov.UK site for details.
You have to be over the age of 65 to get a freedom bus pass which is free, you do not have to be on any benefits . I live in Essex and I can use my bus pass anywhere in the country
silly mummy certain things make you eligable for a bus pass, if your under 65,
Actually I made a mistake on the age it is actually 60 not 65 when you can apply for a bus pass also in reply to your other post with link to gov.uk/apply for dis bus pass I didn’t think tinytomo was asking about a disabled bus pass I thought he was asking about a bus pass in general
No the bus pass unless you are entitled to it on grounds of disability or other reasons is linked with the state pension age. That is unless you live in Scotland, N Ireland, Wales or London then from the age of 60 you can get a bus pass but it only applies in your area and is not nationwide. In London you also get free tube travel from 60 too.
I will be 65 next year and will get my state pension in May and my bus pass from the same date. x
You can have a Bus Pass under 6065 if you have certain Health Conditions go onto the Gov Website or CAB Website I had my Bus Pass at 52 due to Bowel Disease good luck X
I got a disability bus pass but at first it was refused because "I did not look ill" Once I went with my blue badge I got it straight away. Now I am on PIP Enhanced both parts it should be given without question now.
It does seem that different councils look at it a very different way. So a Post Code lottery!
BE Well
I got disabled bus pass by applying direct from local transport with no problem. Not quite 60 yet lol.
Not quite 50 so its a nightmare to walk anywhere thanks for replying it seems people well most seem to think it has to be pension age thanks for replying
COPD is not classed as a Disability. Yes, crazy isn’t it?! But, my experience is, that if your GP writes to the Issuing Body, usually the Local Council, making it clear that your illness seriously effects your Mobility, ie., your ability to walk, then they should, give you a Bus Pass. Not an easy route I know but worked for me!
A pleasure, my friend.
bus passes due 2 disability are not being renewed by my local council.we are going to appeal.
Ask your local CAB to help or look at their website see if they can advise I had mine at 52 due to Colitis
