Travelling abroad

Firstly, thanks to everyone who replied to my recent post regarding oxygen. My consultant has contacted me today to say that I need a flight assessment and oxygen for my holiday to Greece, which is 3 weeks today. Can anyone give me advice on oxygen concentrators. I have another trip planned to the USA and this is all very new to me.

I have Pulmonary Fibrosis diagnosed nearly 3 years ago. I have no treatment for this other than my emergency antibiotics. Have recently had a course of steroids, I can honestly say I felt like a ‘spring chicken’, but now back to feeling not so good.

Going back to concentrators, I’m thinking of purchasing one.

Thanks. Wendy.

Hi

As you are having a assessment, I would wait for the results and discuss the issue of portable concentraters suitable for your needs.

Two companies that will you good service are,

intermedicaldirect.co.uk/ho...

healthoxygen.com

Take note you will need sufficient battery power for the trip, check with airline there are restrictions on size of individual battery. A previous post from a member said they only accept the single battery, not the double.

Thanks for reply Stone. I have limited time to organise things, the main problem being I can only reach an answer machine re making flight assessment appt. Fingers crossed I get it sorted in time, as this is a family holiday.

Hi Stone, do you know if they accept 2 single batteries as opposed to one double (one in hand luggage?

Hi Dougie.

Many thanks for your reply, fingers crossed I can get everything sorted in time. I’m having concentrator assessment Friday. I know that the settings for a concentrator is different to the cylinder. I too am on number 3. It’s the battery time length that concerns me.

Thanks

Wendy.

Which insurance company did you get for your holiday? Some airlines provide oxygen free and some charge good to enquire.
