Hi all I have an appt tomorrow with my Dr to talk about my new meds im on montelukast which I don't think are good for me, (having weird dreams, night sweats, rash round neck) anyway while I'm there would you advise I get a Dr's sick note to apply for ESA as I'm not currently in receipt of it and my partner got the sack from work for taking time off to help with my kids (school run, cooking, cleaning, shopping etc) whilst I was in hospital, so as you can imagine money is very very tight and we are getting into so much debt. I have been reading how dwp can be so awkward with their questions and how to answer them etc, but was wondering before I phone Monday morning to make a claim for ESA do I need a Dr's note first? Thankyou xx

This may be a good stop before you decide.
I know nothing about benefits but just wanted to empathise about your partner getting sacked for looking after you. How cruel and unfair. The only thing I know from my blue badge applications is to fill in any application forms with info about how you are on your worst days. I was prepared to not take my inhaler if I was called for an interview so I'd be badly breathless but it never came to that. Not recommending that though, it could be dangerous for some. Good luck
You should take as much information as you can, about your medical condition and your partner being out of work. Perhaps he can go with you to confirm his dismissal. Most government departments require information, so the more you can provide the better.
