Side effects.

After having an exacerbation recently my doctor prescribed a preventer inhaler, sebri breez inhaler. I have used it for 5 days and last night came out in rash all over arms and slightly in legs and body, which i am sure is hives or urticaria. I am wondering if it is this new inhaler that is causing it? Has anyone experienced same? I’m phoning my doctor today to see what he says.

Hello Hidden . I have been on Seebri but never experienced any adverse effects. I think calling your doctor is best. How unpleasant for you. I hope it clears up very soon.

Best wishes.

Thank you for your reply. I will see what doctor says when he phones me back. The inhaler was helping my chest, so am bit disappointed if this is a side effect. Probably have to try another one.!

Yes, it would be a shame. 😢 I hope it's subsiding at any rate. 🍀

I had the same reaction and had to stop taking it.

"Stop taking the medication and seek immediate medical attention if any of the following occur:

new occurrence of irregular heart beat

signs of a serious allergic reaction (e.g., rash; hives; swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat, and tongue; difficulty swallowing or breathing)

signs of bronchospasm (narrowing airways), such as chest tightness, coughing, wheezing or breathlessness immediately after using this medication"

Thank you for your reply. I havent any other signs of side effects , just the rash that is now fading. Ive had allergic reaction before when i had a chest CT scan with contrast dye. It was very unpleasant and had to have a drip with antihistamine and allsorts going into me. I dont want that again.! I’m waiting for doctor to phone me with advice. Were you given a different preventative inhaler? I feel i need one.

I also just had the rash and rang the pharmacy who said to stop using it immediately as it was an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients. My inhaler was replaced with Incruse Ellipta.

And is that one ok for you? No rash etc. I hope my doc gives me one that wont cause any probs.

It's been fine.

Incidentally, how long had you been using the sebri one before you had the rash?

I don't remember exactly but a few days rather than weeks.

Oh ok, yes i started mine 5 days ago and then got the rash last night so i guess it was i system by then. Thank you for talking , i feel reassured . It’s good to know others experience similar probs.( though wish we didnt have any!).

Hi Sheepdog, I have been trying to find an inhaler that hasn't got side effects for over a year.

Rash, stomach and gut lining inflammation, migraine and depression are but a few side effects I have had.

You need to get back to your doctors and ask him for a different one, keep a record of the inhalers and their side effects as you go along. There are so many inhalers out there.

I hope you find one that works for you.

Kind regards

Steve.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, i now have a Spiriva and started taking it yesterday, hoping this one will be ok. ( doubtful!). You’d think they’d make one that didnt have so many side effects, we have enough to cope with without added side effects making us feel worse. I’ll see how this one goes. It took a few days for the other one to send me out in a rash, so i won’t know til the end of the week. Good to be in touch with people who understand.

Most of my side effects have appeared in the first two weeks, sadly doctors expect you to live with some of them. Incuse Ellipta took the lining off my stomach and gut and caused depression after two weeks, my doctor wanted to prescribe anti-depressants and pills for my stomach problems!!! What are they thinking! Needless to say I told him what I thought of his idea.

I have finally found an inhaler that I can live with, it doesn't have the boost that some of the others have, but I have been Flu and infection free this winter.

Keep fighting for what you deserve!

Steve

Glad you’ve got one you can live with. ( whats it called?) Everyones different so what works for some people doesnt for others i suppose. By the way love your dog, i saw on your profile. Has he/ she got collie in? I have border collies, lovely company and make me feel better.

The inhaler is Spiriva respimat.

The pup is a Staffie/Boxer cross, she's very smart, if a little stubborn, but she's a work in progress . She's only 10 months old. I got her to keep me company when my son moved out and to keep me active, which she certainly does!

My last 3 dogs were Border Collies, Loving obedient dogs and easy to train.

Take care

Steve.

Ahh yes, dogs certainly give us affection and company. They know when we’re not well. They do take some training when very young , they have so much energy.( wish i had).
