Is COPD terminal
Welcome. You're gonna get some love and tough words and reassurance and more love. This is a family in its own way. I have learned to love these hoodlums I may never meet. My experience: Stay away from googling for info. I wouldn't ask a football coach for cheesecake recipe directions. Google is not always, in fact based on experience or legislated medical experts. Oh, the fear and pity I created until joining this site. So much hope and you will find that life can be full and vivid if you do a few things many are about to send, so Ill leave it to them. No I won't; quit the cigs, eat well, exercise to the best of your ability, follow the docs orders, and continue living till you die of something other than COPD. That's how we roll, and that's how we enjoy this life. Guilt? Trash it, totally useless and counter productive. Rage? Okay till you get tired of it. Pity, see guilt and rage. We love you, and fully expect guidance from you to us in the near future.

Wow how lovely I am scared lonely and confused by it all I will take each day as it comes and wait for my tests and results before I write myself off π Xx
And indeed so was I. Funny thing I can't wait each day to hear how this crazy crew did. They help me so much. When I have trouble breathing, get gifted with infection, cop a visit by stress and fear, or whatever, there's always a 'been there, done that' individual with good suggestions. The simple fact that you admit being scared refreshes our own need to connect and understand. We all had to walk on this site before we run. Life duplicates, eh, one breath at a time. Look up some breathing exercises for those bad weather days; in through the nose 1x, 4 quick puffs out through the mouth. But I digress... just sleep well and smile each morn with your first breath. SLEEP!!! I'm writing from 5 hours behind (or 19 ahead if I feel like being arrogant), so I have an excuse. But if you are too stressed to sleep, rent a good movie, read a good book, take a hot bath. The good life stuff. Yes. Do it. You are worthy.
Hello TracieEllen .
Please don't write yourself off. There are many people here who live good lives despite having COPD. And so will you. Take it a day at a time and for now, get rid of the infection you have, then start towards managing your condition.
So glad you found us. Sending best wishes.

We all know how disabling we can be, But we are all strong and Positive and plan for the future. keep reading the forum and you will make lots of Friends Sweetie, you have a long Life ahead to Enjoy. Lots of Love Carolina XXXX
Its progressive I think the difference being that if you look after your self and do what the docs say you can lead a long normal life you dont get a time scale like with a terminal illness but I must admit I often wondered my self why it isn't classed has terminal has there is no cure ,Please dont worry has it seems you have a early diagnoses and if you follow their advice you have many many years left yet and has they say it will probably be something else that's gets us not the copd xxxxxx
Your certainly not about to die so start thinking ahead. You can live for many years with COPD, I myself have had it now for some 28 years and I am still here, ok I cannot do everything I once did and other things have to be done slower but I have a good life and I am now coming up to my 68th birthday next week. Best advice is to make sure you don't smoke and avoid those who do like the plague eat as healthily as you can and exercise regularly even if only by walking.
Have not deteriorated since 2004!
Got a lot older though but gave up smoking 25yrs ago.
Never will l SMOKE again....
I go to pulmonary rehab weekly and look after myself well!
Good luck....x x
