Hi, sorry no one has come back to you. This isn't something that I have experienced but I can understand how worried you must be for your husband. A lot of people here use oxygen successfully and get out and about with their oxygen some even go abroad on holidays. Do you go to your husbands appointments with him? Maybe you could take some questions with you to ask or even ask to speak to your husbands nurse, with his permission of course, Just to put your mind at rest.
Also maybe you could ring the helpline number at the top of here.
Try not to worry too much and go and ask your questions and at least get some support and information from the medical people.
I am so pleased your dad is feeling better now. I am on oxygen 24/7. I have been told that I should keep the percentage of oxygen in my blood over 90%, so your dad's level of 91% sounds OK. I hope that in Pakistan your dad can be given portable compressed oxygen canisters so that he can get out and about. There are also portable (on wheels) concentrators which work on a battery, charged from the electricity, but they cost a lot of money to buy.
Waleed123 the portable cylinders and the portable concentrators have variable oxygen rates to suit what is needed. They should only ever be used by someone who has been properly assessed to use one.
Further to Mrs Mummy' message, your dad should be told by a medical professional exactly what level of oxygen he should use (litres per minute) when sitting still, and also when moving around and walking about. I have been told that if too much oxygen is used that is very bad and results in bad headaches and more.
You ask what are my oxygen levels. I expect I have a different lung condition from your dad (I have sarcoidosis). I have a finger oximeter (bought on the internet) which gives a % reading of the optimum level. When I am sitting without oxygen, my finger oximeter shows 92%. If I am sitting with oxygen at a low level (as prescribed by my doctor) my oxygen goes up to 97%. If I walk around without oxygen my level goes down to 70 - 85%. If I walk around with oxygen at a slightly higher level than when sitting (as prescribed by my doctor) my oxygen goes up to 94%. I hope this helps, but please remember oxygen should only be taken after it has been prescribed by a doctor.
