Saturation levels
I believe "normal" is 94 to 99. I average 97/98 stage 2 moderate.
As Swerv has said, yours are within the normal range.
Most pulse oximeters on the open market will have +/- 2 or 3% error margin. The level at which their would be concern is 89%, so add on a 3% margin error which makes it 92%. So 92% is the point where you should be thinking of seeing your GP, just to check, after all you may have an oximeter that reads 3% too low, then your actual O2 would in fact be 95% which is perfectly acceptable.
Moral of it is, don't frighten yourself into an early grave.
I have severe copd mine ranges from 95 to 97 .I wont buy one of those oximeters I would scare myself to much xx
Actually 95 to 97 on your oximeter is good - below 90 is a concern - but you are much better than that. As I understand it, you can have terrible breathing problems, but your 95-97 rate shows that your problem is something other than blood oxygen level. I'm sure that someone else can explain this better than I.
People with c.o.p.d. stage 2 88 to 92 .hope that helps mine goes to 61 to 88 stage 3 c.o.p.d ...
You need to remember that anything over 95 is normal. Pulse oximeter can give false readings. Make sure you hands are warm, I have arthritis and some of my fingers do not give readings, so check which finger gives the best reading and use that one all the time. Make sure you keep you hand still as movement can affect readings. Also remove nail polish etc as this can also cause false readings. Lastly you can become fixated with readings so I only use mine when exercising to check O2 sats when exercising. You know your own body so the vast majority of times you know how good your saturations are without a machine to tell you.
