Blood oxygen level while asleep

I had my Apple Watch on overnight and this morning my phone had a notification telling me my blood oxygen was 92% while I was asleep . I do have a pacemaker , I’m waiting on an exercise stress test as I get short of breath and tight painful chest just walking around the house . Is this oxygen level normal or ok when you’re asleep ?

Hi Westie I don’t know much about oxygen levels but recently when I had a virus mine was 94 and the hospital wasn’t to bothered they were more worried about the infection markers showing in my blood. If it’s still showing at 92 maybe you should speak to 111. Asthma and lung website said it should be 95-100% but what happens when we sleep it doesn’t mention that. Speak to a professional if you have concerns and definitely if it’s still that low.

Hi, my levels last night stated I was at 79% at 04.30 this morning. I usually drop to around 87 during the night and I mentioned it to my respiratory consultant as I was quite alarmed. He totally dismissed it stating that results from watches are unreliable. I pointed out that the day result was the exact same as the O² reading he had just taken but he wasn't swayed.

It might be worth considering a sleep test. I was given one by the Brompton who promptly put me on a cpap machine as I was averaging 70 during the night. I was told that this puts me at severe risk of stroke. 92, however, sounds ok as that’s really quite high. But I am not a sleep expert.

92 sounds Fine to me also. Most COPD patients their oxygen level is between 88 to 92 .xxSheila 👍

92 should be good. 88 or lower is an issue. The key however is not to stay under 88 for any length of time.

It apparently dropped to 90% in the early hours

Because of the way they sense oxygen levels, fitness watches are known to be unreliable for overnight readings in medical circles. They can also make users unnecessarily concerned when getting very high heartbeat readings during vigorous exercise. Do get it checked out, but don't be unduly concerned.

my o2 sats are usually 95 in the day but according to my watch can drop to 82! In the night.❓
