was just wondering how many other people have trouble with their spine and legs when their chest flares up?

I had flu the week before Christmas and have been unwell ever since. I have been having really bad pain in the middle of my spine for the last few days. I have pulled my stomach muscles coughing but this spine pain comes on only in the afternoon and night. It affects my thighs aswell they ache and are painful to move or touch in having great difficulty sleeping. I just don't know what to do with myself ? Any ideas or suggestions. I have pillows supporting me but I am so uncomfortable ?

It sounds as though you need to have a chat with your doctor Joobie666 .

I have athritis and fybro aswell as the COPD. It's probably one of those. Drs just give pain killers. They don't want to know.

Sorry to add to things but just to let you know reflux causes pain in the centr of the back between the shoulders where the spine is, pain can sometimes radiate to arms and legs when severe. Just a thought, may end have a chat with your GP about your symptoms.

I am sorry you are suffering in this way, Joobie. Recently, I have had a chest infection and I have been coughing very hard. I now have pain in my lower back and side and I am assuming this is because I have pulled some muscles. I shy away from doctors, except in a dire emergency, so my wife has bought me some gel called Voltarol to massage in to the area affected, (I don't know if we are allowed to mention medication on here) , and I am finding that this helps. I wish you better health for 2018. Albert.

I sometimes get back pain that is not connected to my chest problems except that I may have jogged my spine a bit when coughing. I visit a registered osteopath who puts everything back in the right place for me with massage and occasional manipulation. I have to pay for the treatment, but it is worth it.

So if you have seen your doctor and he hasn't been able to help, try a visit to an osteopath or chiropractor.
