getting there

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good christmas and new year and this year is fruitful for you.

Little update on how i have been doing, started on proper food over the last 3 days, only an omelette for my tea then today i had 10 chicken nuggets from maccies, yes i know not healthy but boy did i need them lol.

Dr said ive got a chest infection, i think ive had this for four weeks but i hadnt seen my usual doctor and he gave me antibiotics yesterday, dont go out in the sun they say, chance would be a fine thing in this country :)

Still getting breathless even when not moving but not to the extent it was, the phlegm just will not shift from my chest though. 2 appointments at 2 different hospitals at the same department, im going to assume this is just a clerical error and shall enquire about the second one when im at my first at the end of the month.

Not smoked for a whole month now, and even though im feeling a whole lot better in myself i dont want one.

Paid sick leave comes to an end soon and i really need to be back at work, but i dont know if i will cope, can be intensive at times, and the next 6 weeks are very busy for my company.

thanks for reading :)

Any foods good if you haven't been eating. Well done for quitting the ciggies

Well done for giving up the ciggies. I have copd my Doctor prescribed Carbocisteine tablets to help get rid of the phlegm. They do help to loosen it so you're coughing so hard. ask your Doctor if they will help you also .

Glad you're managing to eat a bit more Keith. The dietician who came to to me when I'd lost so much weight didn't mind too much where I got the calories from so long as I ate so don't beat yourself up about the chicken nuggets. You say you can't get your chest clear. I imagine the doctor has given you Carbocisteine tablets (Mucodyne), also comes as a syrup but a bit sweet to take. If you've only just started your antibiotics they'll start working soon I hope. Take care, Sheila x

Thanks for the replies everyone, really feel like I'm getting somewhere nos, apart from the pains in my chest, apparently heart problems have been ruled out on my 2 visits to hospital and I'm hoping it's just this chest infection. 3rd day of a 7 day course of antibiotics and decent eating (compared to what it was) . my boss is really understanding and there's no pressure to return but I need to, for my own sanity if nothing else. Being alone isn't as enjoyable when you are sick :)

Hi there Keith9876, my Christmas was made special by my wonderful family and likewise, wish you a healthier new year too. Like you I have breathing problems even when not active but I go straight on nebuliser and then do my breathing excersise which works for me. Have you tried carbahisteine capsules Keith? My doctor prescribed these for me to help clear mucus from chest and I find this really good. Hope you feel better soon ✋️😊

To be honest the dr hasn't shown any interest in the phlegm on my chest or my cold in general, mainly interested in my weight loss. I had to push for something for the acid, which isn't doing me any good, I have problems swallowing tablets at the best of times and no matter how often I ask for a liquid version I still get tablets. I know I'm not going to get the full benefit by crushing them but I'm like a dog when a tablet goes in my mouth lol.

While I'm here does anyone know if chemists keep spades of the blue part of the inhalers as mine has decided it doesn't want to work now and there is still stuff in the cannister.
