Good morning everyone, I am currently trying to get on the lung transplant list in the UK. I occasionally at party’s and Birthday celebrations toast a glass or two to the person celebrating. My question is if I am successful in getting on the list and having the surgery is the rule that you don’t drink again after the operation. I am just trying to ascertain all the facts.
Have a great morning

I am on the transplant list in Japan. I think many hospitals say one drink occasionally is okay but definitely not soon after transplant. But some have the rule that alcohol is a definite no, no. The same goes with tattoos and a few other things. There are lots of restrictions on food etc. I think it depends on your transplant centre. Each hospital has its own rules and specifications.
Are you on any transplant specific forums? It really helps to read other people's experiences.
Thank you so much Cas for your reply it’s very helpful.
Hi I too am awaiting double lung transplant assessment... I personally didn't know the answer regarding alcohol so that's a shame ha ha..Cas has got alot of knowledge and i believe like she says look on other forums or just ask at the hospital that you will be under ..wait to see what other people on here reply to you as there are alot of people who are going through or been through similar experiences but may I wish you good luck
