Anxious and scared

I have a shadow on my lung 4cm , waiting for pet scan to see if it's anywhere else or just my right lung, I have cried given my self death sentence, all very strange had a cough for 4/6 weeks had x ray then ct scan 5 days later had my first lung clinic appointment past all the tests 100% not breathless good appetite, not coughing up blood. My husband and family are brill but I am so scared x

Morning Sherriehope, it's natural to feel anxious while you are waiting for a diagnoses. Worth remembering that should you have cancer you will be in the best hands. Things have improved so much in the last few years and teams in different types of specialist treatment get together to come up with care plan based on the individual patients needs. Hope nothing is found and you continue feeling well. Joyce x

Please try (and I know it's not easy - been there) not to get ahead of yourself.

I have had 2 shadows in the past which turned out to be remnants of an infection.

If a shadow shows up they have a duty of care to check it out with a ct scan.

Please let us know how you get on, because whatever the result we are here to support you.

I wish you well xx I had shadow on Lung and actually it was left over infection, apparently that's not uncommon.

Be healthy lots of warm food with lots of veg and herbal teas.

It might not be what you think but I totally understand your worries I was the same! There are amazing treatments out there now.

I also had a shadow which was a cavitating leision. Had PET scan, bronchoscopy, biopsy no clue what it was caused by and it went away all by itself but it is scary and worrying until you know for sure what is going on.

Hi there I too have been in your situation. A shadow was on my lung after a bout of pneumonia. My hospital notes had CANCER ? written across them However it turned out to be the early stages of bronchiestasis. Fingers crossed for you. X

The pet scan the consultant said is to see if it has spread or just in my lungs. Holding your hands and listening to you , I now have the strength positive thoughts . That C word will have a battle.

I keep getting an ache in my shoulder and sharp pain in back. Dry cough gets worse when I get anxious or panic . Bad day so scared.
