Hi Happylondon. In around 2008 I went to a conference at the ICA in london called something like Take a Deep Breath and I briefly met a wonderful contributor called Havi Carel who has LAM which I'd never heard of before then. She is a philosophy professor based in Bristol and has published work about breathing from the philosophical point of view. I was looking up her work the other day and thought of you then. Maybe you already know (of) her, especially since you are a small sorority but if not and you're interested you can google her and her work. I spoke to her at the end of a lecture she gave and this was the first time I had heard of LAM. Hope you have a lovely lunch today - it's great you have the support of your sisters :)

Hi O2Trees

Very kind of you. No I haven’t heard and will look her up thank you 😊

Yes we have a LAM national weekend once a year but this is impromptu..

I don’t know all of them only two!! So good of them to come all this way, Marseille is two hours away for example.

We have a newsletter as well. They are desperately trying to get support and told me they don’t get feedback.

People probably shy away..There is a stigma attached to rare diseases, just like any disease but maybe worse when you don’t understand..

Mum’s reaction was typical, why do you want to know them, isn’t it depressing. I said because of sharing Mum because of compassion and solidarity..

Such an individualistic world we live in, people are formatted to take..

In a way people who are on this forum for example, have already made the step forward, reaching the ones suffering in silence is quite a task..

Here I am getting all philosophical 😃 I feel emotional actually..hugs 🤗🤗

Yes that stigma thing can sometimes be almost as disabling as the condition itself. Being with others with the same or similar conditions means we don't have to explain ourselves. Amazing women are coming from as far away, it will be wonderful for you all to be together - compassion and solidarity like you day. I totally get what you say about individualism. Have a safe and happy day Fran, take care, jean :)
