They made me ill I am now up for my second assessment My copd is the same as it has been for 12 years ... 9 operations but THIS nusrse thinks she is a Doctor and knows better than my GP.S and i KNOW She will fail me again I go on Tuesday I have never let my copd upset me but im now so depressed it's affecting me so much I'm 72 and was so happy with my lot I can't see any future

Hello Lavenderbof .

I'm very sorry, I'm not quite understanding the situation. Did she "fail" you because she thinks you have an infection?

I don't understand how the nurse has the final say. I've never encountered that before.

The nurse has the final say she said I had a cough so must have an infection I told her I always have a clearing of throat cough always anyway she phoned my GP and an hour later I was sitting in the surgery having to listen to the GP both of them telling me they disagreed so they gave me antibiotics I reckon so u could get the op I still clearing my throat occasional u can't stop that I've always done it

Hmmmm. How annoying. I hope this doesn't happen again. Especially since the GP thought you were okay. I live in Japan. The nurse can rarely override the decision made by the doctor. Though they are of course asked for their assessment as well. So, I am quite amazed by this. I truly hope things go better. I am not sure what to suggest. Perhaps being insistent may help.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

Sending you a gentle hug.

I had COPD, Bronchiectasis, Athma and narrow airways.

The nurse discharged me from care saying I do`T HAVE copd (umbrella term)

For 10 years I have been attending the Bronchiectasis clinic and given blood for the bronch reserch teams.

I was told umpteen times I did not have COPD, that has changed drematically after My Iliostomy surgery.

The operation was almost cancelled because the anaesthetist said i could die on the table because of my..............................COPD

I had an examination from a group of pulmologist whio after 10 minuets said " COPD with underlying Sthma and restriction to the airways.

No, I have been tranfered from the Bronc clinic ti the COPD clinic.. By their own admission " they don`t know everything about lungs, it is a huge subject for ones own interpretation.

So my friend, don`t let it get you down and good health to you.
