COPD - benefits

Hi

Sorry if this has already been asked

I have just been diagnosed with COPD 3 weeks ago and stage 2 respiratory failure. Does anyone know how I'd go about claiming benefits or anything. I do work part time as a cleaner and I'm worried the cleaning products will affect my breathing.

Any help gratefully received

Yes some cleaning products can be a problem. If i have to use spray products i tend to spray into a cloth and wipe rather than spraying surfaces. You can claim esa if you are working less than 16 hour a week. Hope you get the support you need. Dont rush into leaving work think about it really carefully. It is easy to leave but not too easy to go back. I am sure there are hundreds of things running around your head at the moment. Dont worry about asking questions there are a lot of experienced people here only to happy to answer. Take care x

Go to the CAB there is usually an office near you they can give advice on what you are entitled to & will help filling in forms etc they also have an excellent Website Good Luck XC

ESA is the best advice but you may have to give up work(at least temporarily. If you have breathing difficulties and need help from other's to achieve tasks you may qualify for PIP.

As the others have said ESA is the one to claim. Google ‘how to claim esa’ and that should give you a phone number to call for the forms. Best of luck 😉
