Found this on a walk this morning bit of a rarity so the mushroom expert husband tells me known locally as devils fingers can see why but not the finest of things to look at when you first set eyes on them lol

Lol didn't see it will have a look just saw it I think it's a sack from which they hatch and grow but deffo looks like a golf ball xxx
Looks like something our lungs might cough up under a microscope.
Never seen anything like that in my lab lol xx
You tube has a video of them ' hatching'
Look for Clathrus Archeri ( Devil's Fingers) .

Very strange, never seen any of those before, they don't look remotely 'mushroom like'. Pretty colour but weird.
Mmm that's what I thought lol xx
Yikes - Aliens from outer space
Starfish - pink girly starfish. I think Barbie lost this while trundling through the forest in her safari jeep.
I think you have the perfect imagination Bj I often get carried away to lol or should be in a nice versace designer jacket with fastenings up the back 😬😬
Oh yes ! With sequins
Absolutely and ready for a lovley champagne party with handsome waiters to feed us our drinks as our hands are encased in jackets 🤐🤐
I never say no to a handsome waiter
Especially if there dressed smart I have a soft spot myself rigbt enough now BJ lol xxx
Looks like an alien !!!
Crazy mushroom. Do people eat them? I think I would not,but nice to always find cool things on a walk.
I wouldn't eat it as for everyone else I can't say I think poisonous fungi xxx
Yeah i wouldn't eat it either xx love those interesting walks you go on!
Thank you Lin x
Exotically beautiful. Would strike terror if seen while you were walking in the swamps of Florida.
Stunning , never seen this before.
They look so interesting! Not edible I presume
I don't they are edible lindy don't think I would like to try either best left in the ground for the purpose they are meant for lol xx
Well they're certainly beautiful. Maybe that's why they're there just to look at them and admire their beauty. Thank you for sharing that picture. We have some pretty beautiful and quite different looking mushrooms across the pond in British Columbia. Lots and lots of mushroom Pickers here. They get a good price for things like chanterelles which are delicious. But they're like $20 for just a few ounces. So I've had them one time I splurged and bought them at the Farmers Market. Anyways it was nice to see that I've never seen something like that before
Ah we have some wild mushrooms in the new forest around here ...theres a lady who I'm great friends with she's a keen eye for the edible ones picks them and sends them up to large hotel chains in london ...my hubby worked for the forestry commission until retirement it was him that told me they were introduced here in the 80s from OZ and new Zealand....same here though shirelles chanterell and others very expensive ...its acorn falling season here at the minute and the pigs are let on the land to clear them as they are a danger to free roaming cattle ponies and donkies ...this year there seems to be a massive crop so the pigs have an extra month freedom lol they normally get penned up end of November but it will be December now before they are reigned in xxx
Where you're living I don't know but I assume you are in the country. It sounds like heaven to me! There's nothing that I like more than going into the woods and walking through the woods. We do have a lot of mushrooms here but I'm too scared to even think about picking them I did it once and they were edible they were huge but that's all I Venture forth to pick. You are really fortunate to have a good neighbour especially one who knows her mushrooms! I would glom on to her and see what she picks! I always wanted to get into the woods esp. this time of year but darnit... those years that offered an abundance of shrooms keep passing by!
So get out there before you can't do it any more! I hope that is many years to come 😊
I live in the new forest area of Hampshire UK...its a beautiful part of the world and I have been here many years now...the ponies donkeys and cows roam free on the forest we live about 5 mins walk from forest edge but we do have houses surrounding us xxx
You are so fortunate to live where you do! My part of the world is pretty amazing as well! Forest, mountains, a river is close to where I live as well as the beach. We have bears that constantly are rooting through garbage cans... people are fined if they put the garbage out without securing it) coyotes, mountain lions and of course our famous orcas (killer whales) and our salmon fishing is world reknown. Sorry, just felt like bragging a bit! ☺ have a great day!
Totally I would as well if I lived where you are . I was offered a post in Calgary many years ago and the kids were of a mind and age that they wanted to stay here...now there married and gone sometimes I think I should have made the decision and just gone dragging them with me anyway. I live near the beach also ...but although it's the same planet we are worlds apart ...i would love to see an orca or a bear rooting through the bins amazing experience enjoy lovley xxxx
Calgary feels like a different place totally from Vancouver. Depends I guess where you would have been posted. If you would have been near the Rocky Mountains that's fantastic. I have not been to Calgary for years and I know it's grown a whole lot. You probably would experience the abundance of wildlife. But it's completely, completely different than Vancouver. They don't get half as much rain as we do for a start. I think Vancouver is a lot like England as far as the rain goes. Of course I'm partial to Vancouver because I was born here and I love it. I love the craggy old mountains and the ocean don't get me started lol. What was it you were going to be posted here for? Yeah you should have just packed them up and dragged the kids out here. Take care and hope this sees you well and clear ☺Linda
It's beautiful...but also scary...you always take the best photo's and find great subjects.
Xx,
Meg
Thank you meg too kind xxx
