I’ve seen a respiratory consultant and am seeing a rheumatologist on Friday. The consultant said I had clubbing of my fingers. Apart from puffy nail beds I think they look like they always have. My question is if my oxygen levels are 96/97 why would this have happened? If the underlying reason for my lung / skin condition is found will the clubbing reverse? Am I sicker than I feel ?
Thank you for your thoughts / wisdom x

I am also at the early stages of finding out why I have some puffy fingers. A retired doctor has suggested it might be gout, which is very treatable. Hopefully your puffy fingers will have a treatable cause too.
Hi Ergendl I have puffy bent fingers, especially the index ones, and I also suffer from gout. It usually starts with my big toes paining badly, I am now on daily allopurinol. And that stabilise the pain. But I still feel my fingers throbbing sometimes. Your doctor can do blood test to find out if it’s gout.
Morning Bronte007. 😊 I had community acquired pneumonia for 1st time after 10 years with copd just recently. This was one of the things they looked at, thought it strange at the time but was bringing up brown/creamy sputum and finger clubbing could have indicated a abcess on the lung. This is one of many different scenarios and no it doesn't mean your illness is progressing.
Sure your consultant will reassure you and make things clearer. Best wishes Dawn xx🥰
The blood tests will show what is happening you could be deficient in vitamins or iodine, lets hope it is an easy fix x
Hi Bronte007, I have finger clubbing too. I’ve had a battery of tests, but the doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with me. Did you get a diagnosis? Thanks
I now have a diagnosis of antisynthetase syndrome , an autoimmune disease that affects my lungs, skin and nails and muscles. I am starting hospital treatment soon which will tackle my lungs and muscles but not sure about skin and nail changes.
