New Inhaler

Hi need a bit of advice my resp nurse has offered me to try Spiolto Respimat I have been taking Spiriva for 3 years is it any good also do I still need to take my preventer with it I'm on Fostair 200 thankyou

Hi there i am on Spiolto respimat,it is a steroid free bronchodilator containing Tiotropium/Olodaterol.I have severe Emphsema and it works very well for me.By preventer i assume you mean such as Ventolin as a quick reliever and the answer is yes as and when you feel you require it.Hope this helps......................regards skis x

Yes, you keep taking Fostair as well, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. It just replaces Spiriva. You take all your other meds the same as usual.

I am scared to death of inhalers--did albuterol and got afib--I could probably breathe better .Im on O2 24/7--I have that new inhaler--but haven't used--does it effect your heart--? Like does it speed up when you use it?? Thanks MmeT

I believe Spiriva is a LAMA and Fostair is an LABA and also contains a steroid.

I believe Spiolto contains a combination of an LAMA and LABA but does not contain a steroid.

Spiolto actually contains Spiriva and another ingredient which may be meant to replace the Fostair but you would need to confirm that with your doctor.
