Pains in stomach πŸ˜•

Evening. I'm hoping someone will be able to offer advice about stomach pain.

I have nonspecific interstitial pneumonitis ie lung disease. I'm on lanoprazole, ranitidine, lots of gaviscon and gastro resistant Prednisolone. I thought my stomach would be fine however it isn't. πŸ˜• My steroids were reduced last week from 15mg to 10mg and this has got much, much worse. My stomach hurts if I touch it.

My big problem is my stomach 'feels like' it's causing me to cough and/or it contributes to it!

It's becoming more obvious to me as the days go that when I'm hungry or after eating I cough. Other times I'm fine. It's a productive cough.

Help...please ❀️x

Geogina, unfortuanetly i can not give you an answer to your stomach pains but it appears to me that you are on a lot of similar medicines for stomach and reflux related issues.i,e you mention Lanzaprazole,Ranitidine and lots of gaviscon which are all similar gastro type medicines, perhaps you are taking too much of these related medicines and need to consult with your Gp for some sort of review?Hopefully you will be able to resolve the issue with your cosultant/gp.wishing you the best.................skis

Aw... thank you for your reply. Really appreciated.

I'm now thinking it might be the alendronic acid. I've had five doses so far; one day a week and I think that is or could be partly to blame. I'm seeing the GP on Wednesday.

I'm finding my cough makes me so miserable. Trying my best to just get on with it but it's very hard. x

Aaah, the lovely Alendronic acid!!!! Hateful stuff! I've stopped taking it because of the pains it caused in my tummy, and the last two doses made me throw up a couple of hours after taking it.

There is an alternative but I can't remember what its called, I see my Rheumy next week and its on the question list.

As for the gut meds, yes, I use them, (Crohns and Colitis and a Hiatus Hernia)

Esomeprazole in the morning, but Ranitidine is more effective for night time reflux, the gaviscon soothes but I don't take it unless I really have to coz it gives me wind!

I do sometimes chew some Fennel seeds, they are quite effective, and of course, good old peppermint cordial.

I try not to eat after 9 at night, and I have learned the hard way, that I must sit very upright to eat, and stay upright for a while after, sounds daft but it works for me.

Hope you get it sorted, the Lung stuffs having enough fun without the belly deciding to play as well😝😝

Cc xx

Morning. Thank you for your replied. I think I now agree with you about alendronic acid! I took a different type today. So weird! Iit felt like cold water trickling under my skin everywhere and I wanted to be sick! Then it stopped.

As you said lungs are bad enough without my belly joining in too! Sick of being sick as they say!

Thanks for the advice about when not to eat etc I'll give it a go. If my stomach was upset and it didn't make me cough that would be better. Having no lung or stomach problems at all would be even better but lie that's going to happen! 😜

You've got such a lot on your plate with everything. God knows how some people cope in here amazes me. Makes he feel guilty over my little moans but I've had such good advice. Thank you. I hope you have a good day. x

You can have something called 'silent reflux' usually at night and it does make you cough, its a problem for quite a few of us 'Lungers' !!!!

Sorry to hear you're having this extra problem, Georgina. I've just got over a 48-hour gastric bug, so I can really empathise with your problem. I hope your doctors can sort it outfit you.

Sorry to hear you're news. I think that when something else comes along it just gets a bit too much.

Hopefully you're feeling much better now? x

Thank you. Feeling a bit better today despite it being my Alendronic Acid day! x

I had stomach issues was on prednisone among other things. What helped me was probiotics taken on empty stomach 30 minutes before eating. Also guaifenesin or musinex to thin out the mucus and 8 glasses of water a day.
