Hi I have asthma, Bronchiectasis and sciatica and have been awarded standard rate care but no mobility. Should I ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration? Or leave as is? X thanks

Hi

There should be a automatic reconsideration, go for it, ask for the case papers. You will then know who and what was said which will help you if you have to go further and appeal.

Hi,

The mobility component is based not on what conditions you have but how they affect your daily life. I found this citizensadvice.org.uk/benef... which helps explain.

Let me be clear that I'm not defending nor approving of the system but the decisions often include [leg] amputees who are rejected because, with prosthetic limbs they are able to manage daily mobility requirements, which I've never quite understood!

Unless your conditions make moving around very difficult both within the house and outside then you are likely to be rejected.

Asking for a review of the decision can be a double-edged sword ... you COULD lose the benefit granted the first time!

Best wishes and good luck whatever you decide
