Interesting article re possible new treatment for pseudomonas which may be of interest particularly to those with Bronchiectasis. I think we should all be asking our medics about this so they get genned up!

Very interesting but think the problem may lie in what is said about there being "no profit incentive for drug companies because as naturally occurring bacteria-infecting viruses, they cannot be patented".

Yes, I noted that but NICE are quick to reject drugs for reasons of expense so they need to acknowledge the other part of their remit which is 'clinical excellence'. If enough patients enquire about it then they should set up trials and it surely can't be beyond the wit of the NHS to solve the problem for economic reasons.

sign of the times to come I know after 5 months sputum samples how my option for oral antibiotics is getting scarce even my doctor was stumped last time what to use. The penicillins the myosins and the two other main groups of micro-bacterial drugs are all of a no go now. Mucodine is not having as good an effect like it used to hence the experiment with saline nebs which at long last seems to be working, thank you for the link it was very interesting.

If Pseudomonas is your problem, have you had Tazocin IV yet? It means being admitted and being hooked up every 8 hours for 5 days but it worked for me. The sputum test revealed none of the others were likely to respond. I was allowed to leave the hospital in between the treatments so I could go shopping or go home to collect the post! It was quite civilised. BUT ultimately there has to be another solution. Good luck.

yes eaten via IV gallons of the stuff mine were done in the community via an IV just had to go in to have a stent put in place the only thing I did not like was if they put it through to fast it leaves you feeling sick

I have now contacted the National Institute for Medical Research and have filled out a form to suggest a subject for research, i.e. phages for antibiotic resistant patients. I await their reply.

Hi Claudine! Could you please post the link as I would like to fill the form as well. I contacted the clinic in Tbilisi and asked for more information on phage therapy. Will post it here once I hear back from them.

this is really interesting, is this just being trialled or something i can get hold of, as i am willing to pay for the price or the treatment

i feel like there's so much research into pseudomonas but non of it is getting implemented, and i can just feel my lung function decline by the years, i don't want to wait for it to get worse.

I was told I had pseudonomas but not given any treatment for it. I know I am going downhill, able to to do less and less and bad days, but no temperature.
