I am on a antibiotics and Iv been told not to take my heartburn tablets can y tell my why

Hi stobhill, they interfere with the action of the antibiotics, rendering them less effective. However, some docs say that you can take them at least two hours before or two hours after abs, depending on the anti acid drug. It does become complicated timing them between ab doses though so this may be why they have just said to leave them off whilst you are taking abs.
