I am now on water tablets, never took them before, but my feet and ankles are so swollen. Going to a 60th birthday party this weekend but a friend said I won't be able to have a drink of alcohol.
Anyone else on these or have had these, can one drink be okay.
I have been on furosemide for a while now and before that Bendrofluazide, and although I don't drink a lot I do have a glass of wine from time to time. I should think a celebratory drink at your friend's party shouldn't do you any harm, just don't overdo it! Enjoy yourself xxx
Thank you so glad someone is taking the same as me. I never took them before, feeling more bloated today. Do I increase my water consumption or keep it the same?
I will have only one glass of wine to mark the occasion.
It takes a while for water tablets to do the trick, but I hope you feel better soon. I have just kept drinking the same amount of tea etc, you don't need to increase it or reduce it. If you continue to feel bloated and have swollen ankles after a week or two it would be worth discussing your dose with your doctor. You get used to it after a while and learn where the loo stops are!
It took me a while before my GP managed to prescribe me a water tablet that works. I check my weight first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and there's a difference of 1 to 2 kilos. So if your feet and ankles are still swollen and your weight is much the same, maybe you need another water tablet. I ended up on indapamide (cardide) and doxazocin.
As I haven't drunk alcohol since 1984 I can't help you there!
Hi - I am on a low dose tablet and drink at the week-end only to keep weight down and not binge. Have you thought about a "Revitive Machine". My partner has COPD and Reynaulds and I treated him to this machine for his birthday. He has swollen feet and ankles and since starting to use the machine he has lost nearly 2cm on each foot. This machine really helps the circulation so why not have a look on Revitive's website as I bought his machine less VAT due to ill health.
