Hello Everyone I'm Kerri-Ann Grainger Hebshie's daughter. My dad was a member of ur group. My father passed away July 16 from stage 4 copd. It's horrible seeing ur loved one struggling everyday to breathe. My dad was my hero as sick as he was he always tried to help others and I wanna continue to get his story and video out there so it can help others to quit smoking. I know that is what my father would want me to do. My dad fought everyday to stay alive because he wanted to live. He ended up on the ventilator. Even on the ventilator he fought. I said Daddy, can u hear me? I want you to know I love you so much and I want you to keep fighting and I said if u can hear me squeeze my hand and he squeezed it so tight. The next day the dr told us what we already knew that he would never come off the ventilator and we had to make a decision. It was the hardest decision my mom and i had to make. We knew in our heart that keeping my dad alive like that was inhumane even though it was so hard to let him go. The next day they removed the ventilator. They removed the ventilator at noon time i saw my father take his two last breathes and pass away. It was the worse feeling i ever experienced seeing my dad on the ventilator and there was nothing I could do to save him. If i could of i would of gave him my lungs. Please don't smoke. Not only does copd effect the person with it, it also effects the loved ones caring for them. Smoking kills. If you go to YouTube type Grainger Hebshie interview with my grandfather u will see my father's story. The video was made by my daughter for a college project. My dad just wanted to help others. God bless you all and ur families.

I really do understand how you feel and what you are going through,My mother died in May through pneumonia brought on by copd.I too had to sit and watch someone I love so much fighting for life.Such a heart breaking experience,I found it a blessing to some extent when she did die.We all cope differently with loss,I try only to think of the good times before my mam was really ill.I think it helps. There are people on here who do care and sympathize with you and whilst not exactly being a shoulder to cry on they are here for a friendly word or advice.Take care all.
I am sorry for your loss, It seems like only a few weeks ago that I watched the video, a very brave man who was showing concern for others whilst suffering himself.

It is always difficult to see a loved one suffer and than pass away. It is such a helpless feeling and then dealing with the loss is even more difficult although a little bit of a relief that the suffering has ended, but is just starting for the loved ones.
I wish you all the best and than your father with rest in peace.
I am so sorry that you have not only lost a much-loved father, but you had to watch him suffer for so long. I hope that remembering what a good man he was will help to ease your grief.
So very sorry for your loss.
So sorry to hear this sad news. Your dad and daughter seemed to have a very special bond and both were very brave in discussing your fathers illness in such a candid way. My thoughts are with you and your family at this time xx🐝
