Beer can dose cause chest congestion and iron feeds bacteriea

I say yes as the french and spanish do

Don't see why not as long as none of your meds specifically say not to.

Red wine has resveratrol, a polyphenol that acts like an antioxidant. It protects the body against damage that can put you at high risk for things like heart disease. Lungs and heart go together, so protecting the heart, plus getting another antioxidant in our system, is a good thing :) Drink up - on the red wine anyway.

That is not a simple yes or no answer Stommelgirl, red wine can effect the breathing due to sulpher in it, but is good for the heart. Depends on what tablets you take ,if any too. But if it is only the occassional glass it is good to relax you and be sociable. Choice is yours depending on your own health status.Enjoy if that is your choice, like a good quality glass of wine myself but don't drink due to tablets ect.

Enjoy the wine(red). Dolphin girl is right

Nowadays it seems as though the Temperance movement is back in a big way and everyone is frightened of the odd tipple. Provided it isn't interfering with your medications it should almost be mandatory. I personally do notice that it affects me the next day, in terms of being more prone to breathlessness, but I enjoy a few glasses now and again. Besides which I brew my own 'country' wines and someone has to drink them.

A nice light wine is good at anytime. Just don't overdo it but enjoy life as usual. Cheers!

2 pints of real ale 🍺 is my limit and has been for years and that is maybe once every 2 weeks when we go out for a meal. On the walk home I am repeatedly asked to slow down 🐌 but then my real prob is my legs not my breathing and alcohol also thins the blood improving the circulation, making it easier to walk, not that I need to have an excuse.

Go for it if you fancy it. Alcohol in moderation is good for the soul; there has to be some enjoyment in life.

Occasionally 😎😃😂

I'm not a massive drinker last time I drank was August 2016 ...then 3 weeks ago I had a few rose wine spritzer on a night out . At the end of the evening I topped it up with a Tia Maria on the rocks ....i think moderation is the key..you need to enjoy life and the occasional drink never hurt anyone enjoy xxxx

Damn, I hope so. If not, I don't think I could give up drinking wine. I only drink one glass in the evenings about 5 - 6 days a week.

I have noticed that certain wine does affect me (my sinuses). I'm sure it has to do with the preservatives and/or how the wine is made.

Red wine affects my sinuses, I believe it's something to do with the sulphites, however Tesco Vermouth works miracles for me :)

You're right, it also has to do with sulphites, but I don't let it stop me.

Stommelgirl.I think if you ran a poll on the responses to your question the general concensus of opinion is yes in moderation.Unfornately i have never been very good on moderation and as usual i will probably overdo it on the Shiraz this evening. But what the heck we do not get many pleasures in life.so Salud to you my dear.xx

White wine is worse at giving a tight chested feeling than a really good red but maybe you would be better on no Wine and just take a nice light malt whiskey as it has no salycilate which all wines have some folks with lung problems have tightened chest feeling after taking wine and other berry based foods . Look up food that are non salycilate and test them In your diet and see if cutting them out makes any difference . I do this and notice how much easier it is to Breath when I avoid certain foods and especially White wine . Good luck
