I've been taking antibiotics for 4 days now for a chest infection.My breathing is quite good so I've not been taking the steroids.Would this be okay?I hate taking them because they zonk me out.

Hi Picasso10, The steroids are for reducing inflammation in the airways, if you have no inflammation then not taking them will not make any difference to killing the infection off with the antibiotics.

Take the rest as they go with the antibitics

Steroids can interfere with other medications

Thanks for the reply.Maybe that's why they don't agree with me because I am on medication for other things.

Long term steroid use is harmful in so many ways, so only take them if you absolutely need them.

Thanks for the advice.I've been lucky that I've only had to take them twice in my life and both times the side effects were extremely unpleasant and that's why I hate taking them.Doctors don't seem to bother about things like that.
