Seretide question

Are there any long term effects of using Seretide Evohalers? I have been on a125/50 for years. My asthma is well controlled - I rarely use Ventolin. However my weight is a worry and I suffer from idigestion and acid reflux. Would stoping Seretide help?

Hi

This is one for your GP. The question is, is your asthma under control because or in spite of using Seretide which is a preventive inhaler.

As you rarely use your Ventolin, check it's still in date.

I was on Seretide for many years to control my asthma, bronchitis and COPD without any identifiable side effects. I've now had it replaced by Seebri Breezhale. Apparently Seretide is a very old drug and there are much better ones available. Stopping taking it without a replacement would be inadvisable IMHO

Good advice thanks

It's great that the 125 seretide keeps your asthma in check.

I agree with Stone and Don. P

Like you I have used seretide but the 250 dose two puffs twice a day for ten years with no adverse effect on my long suffering with indigestion. Interestingly though reducing my beer consumption and eating spicy food has reduced the occurrence of acid reflux. I say no problem with seretide. Good look

I have been on seretide 500 for eight years now , only minor side effects like muscle spasms and occassional hoarse voice.

I was switched from Seretide to Fostair and was told this was because long term Seretide use had been found to increase the occurence of pneumonia. I'm somewhat sceptical as the newer drug costs about half of the seretide and most drug changes are cost driven, but rarely admitted to.
