Have just been reading that the phenomenon of the so called " Moon Face " effect when taking Steroids, is caused by " Water Retention " around the face , and that a medication would reduce this , or even remove it altogether - any suggestions folks ? ....although I make a special effort to fight the urge to eat more ( which would make you look more chubby anyway ,apart from when I take steroids,) = its a losing battle if " Water retention " is taking place ! .. - any ideas on this folks ....? thanks = " Chip monk " ! ...

My face is the same...one advantage it fills out some of the creases . And matches the steroid tum as well, shame about my skinny arms and legs though.
I didn't realise it was water retention that caused it.
My friend has sent me some odd emails at times after her cat has walked over her keyboard , mine used to press the phone buttons when I was using the old type phone with a wire.
this may sound strange but it works for me. Drink more fluids. Fluid retention is the body storing fluid because it is never sure when more is coming, drinking 2 liters of water throughout the course of the day soon has the tissues releasing stored supplies of fluid. One may find that there will be an initial increase in exercise walking to and from the bathroom, this will settle.
Anyone with kidney problems should discuss this with their doctor.
Hope this is helpful.
