Cough

Hi, I've just got back from a week away and seen my daddy- he has a repetitive cough which I asked him about - he replied "it's been going on for a long while ! And it's too late "!!! I'm lost

Best advice is to get any new symptom such as a cough checked out by his GP. Coughs can be due to a number of reasons. Some pretty easy to diagnose others more complex. Obviously a lot of people fear the worst but in a lot of cases it can be something very basic like a virus.

There is a particularly bad virus going around which leaves a hacking cough for weeks. Even 4 weeks later I still get bouts and have had it checked out. Normally healthy people at work have also had it for weeks. Fingers crossed for your Dad that this is what he has.

LF57 is right about a virus. My brother in law hasn't known what to do with himself for over a week now as he has had the most horrendous cough & is just aching all over.Hopefully your father will be feeling better soon - it must be so miserable.

I agree with the others. I had the virus. Worst cough I've ever known ( and I have chronic Sarcoidosis). So it could be that. But it is always best to get it checked out either for peace of mind or treatment.

you seem worried? has dad seen gp,if not why not get an appointment and go with him (if he agrees). Hopefully the other guys are right and its a virus but at least your mind will be put at ease.
