Wonder if anyone can help me. I started with an itchy throat and tickly cough over a week ago with no other symptoms of a cold. Nothing seems to be working it gets worse at night and I am occasionally wheezing aswell. Went to the doctors and just got fobbed off. Starting to get a bit worried it's something a bit serious.

Hello Wharty... I've had the same tickly throat and more of a cough in the last 2/3 weeks with noticeable wheezing off and on. I'm not quite stage 1 COPD/emphysema. I was going to post and ask the same question as you but now I'll keep my eye on your post instead. Sorry I couldn't help. I'm new to this and learning. I've only been using rescue inhaler for treating my symtoms and find in the morning I cough and it sounds wet.... Never had that before.
It's ok I'm new to this too :), I've literally just been drinking loads of water and taking throat sweets. At first i thought it was a chest infection but now I'm not so sure.
I've been drinking lots if herb teas that are good for respiratory problems as well Oregano oil... A few drops a day. That's good to prevent respiratory infection.
Ill have to give that a try, I've had few cough medicines but nothing seems to work ive hardly slept as it gets worse through the night. Nice meeting you too 😊
If you don't mind me asking... What have you been diagnosed with? I've learned so much since being diagnosed. The most helpful was excercise... helped so much with sob. As well, I eat healthier...and take lots of vitamins. Everyone says I look great... if only they knew. I've not told anyone about my COPD.
Hello Wharty,
A warm welcome
You don't say if you have copd or a lung related disease or if you are coughing up some phlegm. It does sound as if you possibly may have some infection. Drink plenty of water but not in big gulps. Doctors usually want you to give it a fortnight before you see them, but that is if you have no other lung problems. Have a word with your pharmacist. I expect some of the others on here with have a better suggestion but this is just my two pennorth.
Wharty, My GP couldn't diagnose what my coughing was due to, but it sounds similar to yours. I have been taking Ipecacuanha for years now to stop such coughing - and it works!
It is sometimes difficult to find in your local area, but it can always be found by using Google.
I hope that it works for you; I know just how annoying it can be.
This is a bad time of year for seasonal allergies. Do you suffer from them? I've had very tickling coughs for the past couple of weeks due to ragweed. In addition to the coughing there has been wheezing when I breathe -something I almost never do, I've had headaches and lots of congestion. It's so bad I'm unable to do much of anything between the hours of 11am to 4pm then at night, all night, I am fine. My eyes are red and itchy, too.
