Hello, I had an asthma specialist appointment today at my local hospital and I had to have a chest x-ray and apparently there was streaking in the chest which I don't fully understand

Does anyone know what this means?? Please shed some light on the subject if you can

Thank you

Erin

Does that mean you had naked people running across your lungs? :D

Sorry, I have never heard of streaking but I hope someone else can help. :)

It could be a number of things. On occasion even in healthy people a part of the the lung will not fully inflate due to lung being pushed together. This shows up as a " Streak" and if they breath in again it normally disappears. There is also a condition called atelectasis which can also cause this. "en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atele.... Without the X-ray report I am at a loss to help you further. I would discuss this with your GP as he should receive a copy of the report and will be able to explain. P.s Atelectasis can go as far as a collapsed lung but in your case it is only in a small area so do not worry.
