So it's been 4 months since I last had a chest infection ... after spending the last 8 years with one every 2-3 months on average
I'm having that as a win!

My wife would say " do not temp fate". I am in a similar situation. After two years of numerous infections I have not had an infection since March. Touch wood we both may a good year.
Do you know why? What has changed in your life that would explain it? From 2012 to April 2018 I had one chest infection after another. Kept a diary in 2017, and counted 18 chest infections in that year. During the changeover from the bath to a walk-in shower and finding black mould covering the bathroom floor, after eradication of that, NO chest infections apart from a stint in hospital with pneumonia and pleurisy in Nov 2019.
Yes I started azythromycin 6 months ago, since then my feno has been lower (normal range) ... they told me it would take 6 months "to do its thing" and that it should reduce inflammation and the amount and severity of infections
I went on that AB, 1 three days a week, years ago, and they gave me a terrible ulcerated mouth, so had to stop taking them. My mum used to get mouth ulcers, so probably in my DNA. I've also stopped taking NSaid's such as Ibuprofen, and also use toothpaste without Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), which also can cause them.
Bless you, I have asthma and another airway condition that means I'm *highly* likely to get chest infections frequently...... so for me this is life changing
I can't take NSAID's after an odd reaction many years ago (I'd been taking them for years on and off for various issues) ... I had a similar reaction to amoxycillin too (again had used it without issues on and off for Years)
Great news. Onwards and upwards x
Brilliant news 👏😍😍
Hello. I just read your post and have a few questions if you don’t mind me asking?
What type of chest infection do you get?
I have been having a nodule that gets inflamed . If one recovers, then another one becomes inflamed. Does this happen with you?
Hi,
I just saw your reply... I have asthma and LACS (Large Airway CollapSe) ... unfortunately for me the main symptoms are breathlessness and recurring chest infections...they tell me my left lung is "worse" than my right so the infection tends to be in my left lung
I get the usual infection symptoms crackles in the lung, breathless and pain on my left side across my shoulder blade and along the bottom of my rib cage
If I happen to be in a hospital at the time my white blood fell count is normally high (when not fighting an infection its normally low)
But unfortunately I don't tend to "cough much up"
I've never been told I have inflamed nodules, but it has been recorded I have air trapping when I've had a dynamic CT scan.
I'm not really sure if that's any help but if you want to know more let me know
