The reason doctors call us patients
Is very plain to see.
My appointments half past two
And now it's half past three
Squashed into the waiting room
Next a lady who did glare.
In my day if I sat that close,
I'd have to marry her.
At last I hear my name being called
I rise up from my chair.
Follow me the nurse did say,
Then sets off like a hare.
Good grief, I can't keep up with her.
I'm old and far too slow.
There's doors all down the corridor
In which one did she go?
Finally a head pops out
And asks where have I been.
I say my legs are not too good
I thought you would have seen.
So that is how we got our name
Patient is what be are.
A bit more patience all around
Would certainly go far.
