Need some energy!

Rough day today. Went grocery shopping but was too tired to cook. Feeling like as bad as having it is having difficulty breathing the worse is not having the energy to do the things I love to do. I love to cook and feed people. Ugh!

Hi, have you seen your GP, if not then please go. You keep us informed about how you are doing. Love the top by the way. Take care 😊 xx Bernadette

Yes and he is a gem. I just got diagnosed a few weeks ago so we are still running test to determine course of action and the extent of damage. Lung specialist rescheduled for next month.

I think we all need energy at times. I try to pace myself. Work out a routine. Look at what needs to be done and what would be nice to do and then prioritize. Give yourself rest periods. Eat little and often. This is very important. Large meals can cause you to become more breathless. People with COPD can use far more calories than normal due to the extra effort required to breath. Ask you GP to refer you to a dietitian for advice.

You will find things will improve when you start exercising. I do at least 30 minutes a day. But build up slowly. When I came out of hospital my first priority was looking after myself once I could this I then started slowly adding small jobs around the house until I felt strong enough to start doing small walks. As I got stronger I slowly reduced my morning and afternoon rest periods. There are a number of breathing techniques you can use to help you such as purse lip breathing etc. I used YouTube to watch how to do them. As your GP to refer you for pulmonary rehab. There may be a waiting list so do not wait start exercising now but at first take it very gently. As your GP tested your blood for vitamin Deficiencies as if some level are low this can impact on both your breathing and energy.

You also need your pneumonia and flu jabs.

That was so interesting Bessie. I didn't realise that large meals affect breathlessness and use more calories. I will try your ideas. Thank you

Me too Cherr.I love having friends over for dinner but like you I get tired doing it all. What I have learnt to do is find receipes that you can cook the day before or in the morning.Don't try and shop and cook all on the one day.Any dish with fresh herbs normally tastes better the next day when all the different flavours get absorbed.Keep it simple so you can enjoy the evening yourself.

Sorry you're feeling rough. Take things easy and I hope that you'll be feeling a bit better soon. XXX

Wishing you well and hope things improve soon. It's hard not being able to do things you love but you have to pace yourself. Take care and good to see you have a great doctor. That helps. Xxxxxx

You have to do the good days with the bad, some days you could probably do with just reeeeesting ... that day was one of them, tomorrow is another day ... chin up sweetie xx

I never shop and cook on the same day lol! Always get something really easy to do or a takeaway. It is frustrating feeling worn out all the time, you just have to pace yourself a bit and you can do a bit more. Perhaps increase your vitamin and iron intake from food or maybe even some pills as a top up?

Maybe on the day you shop someone else could cook for you that day? You could always sit and supervise :)

Take care x
