If infection as been ruled out could have touch of asthma to explain shortness of breath.

But saying that as you have been on steroods guess you getting over infectio so coughing a lot can cause breathless.

Steriods losen mucus so could be that effecting peak flow nummbers.

If your lungs regular inflamed from smoking or infection should be on steriode inhaler

Strees can cause hyperventilation i would not worry as takes time to get over infections

Is a worry for sure but do have to try not to as stress can effect us bad can even lead to hospital visit.

Have been having bad time with stress myself and yet to conquer it.

I dont need to go on about smoking BUT is doing us no faviours really.

Please go back to your GP, you need to know what the problem is for your own piece of mind. Maybe you need inhalers but it certainly needs sorting. Please let us know how you get on, take care 😊 xx Bernadette

Sorry if you feel I am being unkind but it will only get worse and worse unless you kick those cigarettes into touch. This is your wake up call and if you continue to smoke it will all get worse quite quickly. If your life means anything to you you have to stop. Please do it I know you can as I did it myself. Not saying it is easy but it is possible with a little determination. Get a container and every day you do not buy cigarettes put your money into it and watch it mount up. Promise yourself something really special from what you have saved. Worked for me. I wish you well

I agree with gingermusic give up the cigs even it it means going on a vap system for a bit to get "The something in the hand out of the way" is better than nothing. Try to control your beathing with deep breaths in hold and slow release leaning slightly forward. Hope that helps?

Be well

I have to agree with Gingermusic and Offcut. Stopping smoking was one of the most difficult things I have ever done but at a day at a time I am 12 years down the road and find life so much better and what a saving of money!! Now at 70 I still suffer COPD and Emphysema but probably would be dead now had I continued to smoke. Best of luck.
