No need to worry, a bit like spirometry with extras. As well as spirometry they also do lung volumes: this can be done with --- brace yourself --- plethysmography. You sit in a glass box and follow the instructions, inhaling, exhaling. The physiologist has microphone directly into the box, good for those of us who are deaf, and will be very clear. If you want a print out of the results it might be worth phoning your consultant's secretary to ask that you be given them immediately.
Good luck, not that you need it

I had one recently. Mine took 15 minutes and was in 3 parts. Sat in booth and breathing in, holding breath and breathing out in various ways. Person talked you through what you had to do, Third part, the door was closed,
In my opinion worse part was using the nose clip/peg, I hate them.
Good luck for tomorrow Diane. You have had some great replies so hope you feel re-assured. Xxx
G'day Diane
As per the other posts...no need to concern yourself..this is a non invasive procedure..just some huffing and puffing.
No need to wish you luck..just a little more involved than a spirometry test.

Thank you x
No, no need to worry. It's great to find exactly what's going on so you can take action.
Good luck, please don't lose any sleep over it - many of us wish we could have one more often!
I enjoy them, the physiologists are so friendly & encouraging, they really help you get the best results. The only downside is, after 20-30 mins of blowing into various machines, I get a bit of a headache! But then I have a cup of tea & a Twix before seeing the consultant to go through the results with him
Thank you xx
How did it go Diane?
Hya Hanne, my appointment is only this afternoon at 3.15pm, hate late appointment I'm anxious all day! Will let you know when it's all done, thanks for asking 😉 xx
Oh, I've missed a day somewhere! Good luck Diane, even though you won't need it 😊
😉👍 xx
Hya been for my lung function test and am back home all comfy with a nice cup of tea, your right it isn't that bad at all and only took about 10/15 mins, got a tiny bit light headed at some point but nothing I can't handle, thanks again for everyones help xx 😉☺
You forgot the Twix! Glad it went well, did you get a copy of the results? Now you can put your feet up & have a nice relaxing evening
I had a pInce of jam and cream Sponge cake instead Hanne haha, yeah I got a copy thanks xx
That's strange, must be due to different hospitals/areas. When I enquired about a copy was told I could only request a copy of the letter from consultant to gp when it gets sent.
I came here today to see how you got on Dianne. Glad it went well.
Oh right, must be different rules in different areas, like I say he just printed it out I have looked at it but it's all gooble de gook, not a clue what it means xx
