I went to the docs yesterday and been put on antibiotics and steroids.

I went as I'm full of cold/flu and my breathing has got worse and I'm getting stabbing pain just below my ribs. Going upstairs is a chore and yesterday I collapse at the top of the stairs as I couldn't get my breathe. The doc is sending me for an xray (asap) and making me an appointment with the specialist at the local hospital.

I was diagnosed with Emphysema in my right lung and Bronchietasis in my left lung in 2012 and saw a specialist then just left to cope by myself. I've been asking to see the specialist again as my breathing has got worse and my daughter's are worried about me. I've asthma as well as other health problems and I feel like no one is listening to me.

It took the doc 20+ years and me having a break down at the docs for them to send me for a MRI on my back and realizing how back my back is and being told that there's nothing they can do but give me strong painkillers (Gabapentin 500 3x a day ).

Please has anyone any advice as I'm scared and petrified as to what they can find on the xray. I'm only 52 with 2 daughter's and a 4month old granddaughter (born on my birthday). ☺☺

Try not to worry as it seems your doctor had suddenly realised you actually need help do you roll be getting that.

Awful to have a bad back too. Pete takes Gabapentin and nothing can be done for him either.

Hope things improve for you. Xxc

Thanks Sassy59 for your reply. I've no confidence in docs these days. They only allowed me MRI on back because I was waking up paralyzed from waist down and the results sent me into deep shock for a couple of months. My breathing is really worrying me as I've been left for so long with nothing to help with my breathing.

Sorry for rant, I've problems with my Bladder as well.

Thank you again xx

Try not to worry.......this virus that's going around is particularly nasty and lasts a long time (I had it for 7 weeks).

Hopefully you'll get the appropriate help that you need, but you need to really push for it. I'd ask to be referred back to the respiratory specialist as a lot of doctors aren't particularly knowledgeable about lung problems.

Good luck and I hope that you're feeling much better soon. 😊

Hope you feel better soon and that you'll get the answers and help you need from the consultant (and hope it doesn't take long to see one!)
