I have been on oxygen 24/7 for nearly 2 years and about a month ago, these nasty little red spots appeared under my nose where the cannula sits. They are itchy and sore. Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

No blistering or weeping, just me weeping as so fed up with is all. Thanks for the heads up on impetigo, I shall google it, Ciao.

I’d go to the GP..if it is impetigo as suggests Lilian it is very contagious..I had a staphylococcus in the nose with all those machines and the GP gave me an antibiotic nose gel..sterilise your cannula etc

Take care x

googled it and it`s not impetigo so a trip to the doc it is, a 2 week wait unless my nose drops off before then. Thanks for the help.

2 weeks to see the doctor?? I would ask for an emergency appointment or go to a walk in centre, a nurse practitioner will know what to give you.

I am also on oxygen 24/7 and my only complaint so far has been the drying out of my nostrils but have been advised to use KY Jelly on the prongs of the cannula don't know if that would help you with the rash.

Thanks to all who have tried their best for me. I have made an appointment with a dermatologist for Wednesday, will let you all know what the outcome is. Long life.
