Hiya, I have been on this site for a while although this is my first time posting, I am also on a sister site (IBS). I had been diagnosed with copd over a year ago and use Ventolin and Aclidinium Bromide, I also have a lot of trouble with my digestive system and bowel, but the last couple of months have been really horrendous with bad stomach pains, Labyrinthitis , anxiety attacks all of which has been affecting my breathing as well. The doctor finally sent me for a CT scan, the results showed no real problems, (such as cancer thank goodness) just a case of diverticulitis, but when the doctor was telling me the results she told me the scan also showed my Emphysema, up to now I hadn't been diagnosed with this before only copd, now i'm not sure whether to class this as a definitive diagnosis or not. I am also waiting for blood test results (thought my arm was going to deflate with the amount taken 7 phials )
Sorry about the mix of symptoms, just wanted to get a few things off my chest

Hello and welcome. COPD is not really a disease. It is an umbrella term used for both emphysema and chronic bronchitis. So you don't have something new, just a clarification.
Yes I agree. It is all known as copd. Emphysema and Chronic Bronchitis are under the umbrella of copd as the treatments are very similar. Most people have primarily one with a bit of the other. x
