Hi, I'm Keith and have had copd/emphysema for years now. I'm on portable oxygen. I guess what I'm looking for are the little things we do in our illness that turn out to be "just right at that time" in my illness and made me feel well enough and not anxious enough to stop me doing the things I wanted to get done. All tips and suggestions are very welcome. Thanks.

Hi Keith welcome life is difficult with our illness when I was first diagnosed I had a shocking cough I would cough so much I would go light headed which put me off going out. I had to do something so I started with short walks then built up to going shopping on my own

Hi Keith and welcome to the community. I too have emphysema and I find that anxiety is my worst enemy! I'm currently in the middle of a PR course, which I'm finding really beneficial (both the exercise side and the educational talks are invaluable).

I truly hope that you find what you're looking for on the site. There are some lovely members who have a wealth of knowledge and experience, and some who will just post things to brighten your day.

Wishing you all the best.

Pam 😊😊😊

Thanks Pam.

Anxiety is my worst too. I can accept breathlessness all the time but being anxious for something you can't even see really does get to me.

Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome, Keith :) Join the cylinder club!! I was given a "granny trolley" to use -- it takes two cylinders and rolls along behind me, saving humping the oxygen on my back. The trolley is a God-send!

All the staff at the respiratory unit which I attend says "walking is the best thing to do" -- and they are right. You need to walk, within your limits, then push it a bit. Coddling yourself is also good, especially when you're feeling low. Nowt wrong with that!!

Keep up the good work!
