Hi

I take a half spoon in morning and half spoon at night. Hoping to ward of any infection, it does have bacteria fighting properties.

Not sure about clearing lungs.

Supermarkets, health food shops. Be warned, Damon, it's expensive but if it works you're worth it.

Hi

Mines from ASDA

Rowse manuka honey 15+ £17.00 250g

10+ £11.98. 250g

The higher the plus number the better, also more expensive.

Beware of fakes, sales are 11,000 tons but they only produce 1,700 tons per year.

Manuka honey was discussed on a tv program called, "Trust me im a doctor "

It showed there is not conclusive evidence to show Manuka honey is any different to any other honey .....But the price !!!

Hello artchie, how are you doing?

Manukau honey is good for the lungs but I'm not sure if it clears the gunk. Has your doctor prescribed Carbocisteine, 2 3 times a day? It helps to break the mucous up. Drink plenty of water because that helps too. And have you been shown breathing exercises to help you cough? Referral to a respiratory physiotherapist is best, but you could look up the active cycle of breathing on You tube. Finally try to clear as much as you can from your chest as soon as you're awake in the mornings.

Take care, Sue x

Hi this has been discussed on here many times. If you type this into the 'Search BLF' box on the top right of the screen all the previous posts and replies will come up. x

I don't know about clearing lungs, never read that but after much reading I took it for a couple of years. I took 20+ when I was poorly and 15+ daily in the winter. Expensive (but I'm worth it)! It's supposed to help with infections. New Zealanders (where it comes from) use it to heal wounds. Look it up on Amazon and read all the reviews before you make up your mind. Holland and Barrett sometimes have a 2 for 1 deal.

I now take local honey instead. I never put in boiling drinks though in case the heat kills off any of its properties.

Don't know about clearing the lungs, but genuine Manuka honey is as good as it gets. I have had it straight from the hive, wonderful stuff, The wood from Manuka is marvellous for smoking fish. Stone says 1700 tonnes a year which I think would be on the money,I know where 8 to 10 of that comes from. I don't know what the price of it is ,never had to pay for it.

It's an anti inflammatory which can only be a good thing. Has great success treating burns and wounds but is very expensive. Genuine Manuka honey has to carry the UMF mark which a lot of the stuff on the shelves here doesn't -

I was advised by a research scientist looking at all this to try clover honey as it appears to have a lot of the same qualities - and is much cheaper

Please don't take these articles as gospel as I just grabbed them off the internet but there are certainly a lot more on there to read.

Anything is worse a try!

Good quality local Honey is just as good and a lot cheaper. Lots of research fails to prove Manuka Honey is any better than home grown.

Maybe or maybe not but after I clear my lungs in the morning my wife always says, "Looking good honey" so I can't argue with that.
