Hello and warm welcome to you Roessner541 . I am so very sad to hear your very brief story. Would it be okay to ask for a little more so our members can give you some feedback?

Yes. I ended up getting a staff infection and went to another hospital in ICU for three days until they could stabilize me it has been a slow recovery

What a shock for you Roessner having an operation that you didn't need and then an infection on top of that. I hope you are feeling better soon, bless you. Xxxx

I'm really sorry to hear your story, Roessner. You've been through such a lot. I'm wondering how you're feeling about having had surgery for a cancer you didn't have - but can imagine it must be pretty bad. Are you doing anything about this? Or don't you feel strong enough yet? I suppose one good outcome is that you know you don't have cancer.

To get an infection like that was such bad luck and it's not surprising that your recovery is slow. How is your COPD and are you coping with that? Do you have help and support? Is there anything that you came here to chat about - everyone is so friendly, kind, helpful and knowledgeable and we're all here for you.

Like SquirrelsHolt I feel very sad about your story. I wish you as well as possible, and hope we hear from you again soon.

I tried to sue the doctor and hospital but they said it was to hard to prove on oxygen all the time which I hate.but bought some tools that I thought will make my lungs stronger. I get a lot of help from my oldest son, he is living with us right now.

It's really good that you've got help from your family. I expect you can't really get enough at this stage. Do you have any contact with respiratory nurses do support you with getting used to the oxygen?Has a physio shown you any breathing exercises?

I mustn't throw too many questions at you but there are ways we can help even without being there!!

One more thing - have you tried speaking to PALS at the hospital?

Take care.

If you are talking about palliative care I was on palliative care for a while they wanted me on hospice but I refused i know how to use the oxygen would just rather breath on my own I have gone to rehab which did help unfortunately it was before surgery I am OK just really upset that it wasn't necessary

No, no - PALS is a patient support thing at hospitals which advises and helps patients making complaints.

I don't know but would think your breathing will improve when you get stronger. Also think more rehab would help lots, at the right time for you.

And I'm not surprised that you're really upset. It shouldn't have happened. Dealing with that must be desperately hard for you and your family.

Please let us know how you get on. What happened to you was apauling but you're now beginning to recover and while I know you can't put it behind you don't let it pull you back because you want things to be as good as they can be!!!

Be better soon. Sue xxx

What a sad situation. I had c.o.p.d but was offered a transplant when I was your age. I had a successful transplant and now living the life, please discuss this with your doctor, you deserve it. Sue x

Hi sorry to hear about your ordeal but you are not alone. I had a lobectomy 10 years ago. Had have my right lung removed because it was thought to be cancer. It wasn't. It turned out to be TB and could have been treated with medication instead. I was told afterwards that these things happen, I'm not the first and I won't be the last. Trouble is, when you have copd and emphysema, having this op' doesn't help. But don't give up, the very best thing people will tell you is to exercise and that is such good advice. Good luck

I noticed you're in the States...., I'm in the Atlanta area...

Duncan

Not sure either but I got to the lawyers and they all told me no I did not have to pay the $700,000 bill that I got though to me that was kind of an admission of guilt
