Living with COPD
Hi Candypop (Sue) welcome to the forum, nice to meet you. I hope the salamol inhaler is working well for you and you’re being supported by your doctor.
I’m carer for my husband Pete who has COPD (bronchitis), sarcoidosis, heart and back problems. He also had severe sepsis 2 years ago.
We’re staying home because of the virus so Pete is doing well health wise.
It’s a great idea to eat well, drink lots of water to stay hydrated and exercise however you can. Stay as healthy as possible and chat to us as we’re all here for you.
Take care xxx😘
Hi Sue and welcome You have found a group of wonderful people with vast amounts of knowledge, experience and empathy, I wish I had found it when I was first diagnosed !
What sassy said about staying as healthy as possible is great advice !
Look forward to chatting soon Laurie xx
Hi Sue and welcome. I learnt most of what I know about COPD from being a member here. The BLF have lots of useful information and advice on how to stay as active and healthy as possible.
Hi Sue, welcome! If you can get referred by your GP to pulmonary rehabilitation that's the best thing you could do for yourself - a series of sessions dedicated to appropriate exercise and education about self-managing lung conditions, (most are usually people living with copd).
I dont know where you are living and there may be variation over the country during the pandemic. My area - Kent - is still running PR classes - so its worth asking. And the BLF info that CPDO16 mentions above are definitely worth checking out.
If you've only just been diagnosed it might be worth my mentioning that I was diagnosed at moderate stage in 2000 and Im still here in 2020 living a good life. Take care
Hi. Candy pop
Welcome. I have had COPD since 2008.i was able to carry on working g. I became really poorly rushed into hospital.i had been having problems not breathing properly. My lungs were slowing down and it turned out I was retain g CO2.d wea a mask overnight and during the day. The worse thing was having to gi e up work. I love my work looking after children.but trying to chase them was hard
I attend rehab classes to help with my exercise and breathing and meet other people in the same boat.whichis great fun

You do learn to live with it and make sure you have family or friends to support you also if you are having to give up work make sure you get benefits to help you. Take Care x😄

Welcome, Sue. We're a mixed bag of sweeties here: the tough nuts, the justplain nuts, thesherbet lemons that fizz, the red lips and the humbugs. We've got poets, storytellers, photo addicts ... dogand/or cat people ...
If nothing else, you will be entertained and learn stuff. Shoulders back; head straight: quick march..
