Am going home.

Apart from a few days away in Scotland earlier in the year this was our main holiday.....We had a fare refund from one ferry company so decided we would cross the water to Normandy and see the memorial s and beaches,. Just doing B&b and driving around. At the end of the first week we were on a large ferry to Ireland. We docked just outside Cork . Weather was grand and the B& B about 10 miles on was fantastic ....it was more like a 5 star hotel. After 3 nights we moved on to Killarney for 4 nights. That's where things started to go wrong. I got tooth ache,. While it was not too bad I tried my emergency supply of Amoxyl with no real effect.......... Got in to see a smashing dentist who after x-rays decided it was a serious infection and prescribed two antibiotics. Started the course of pills, Iwent through the wanting to scream stage ,and driving over bumpy roads was a definite no no. Then the red rashes and itchy patches started. Hubby decided it was time to go home ,and I agreed. So we cancelled our stay at the Dingle , Galway ,and Mullingar. The lady where we were staying would keep us on for an extra night before we headed for Dublin and the ferry home............She rang the ferry company for us only to be told the Sunday boat was full and either go at night or wait till Monday.......So Monday it is. Have booked a B&b near Dublin so we don't have a long drive to the ferry, getting the largest part of the journey done today.. When we leave the ferry we have a 6 hour journey home. Our original plan was to stay with relatives in the Midlands to break the journey. But not now. Himself has Citirizine tabs which I can take to ease the drug reaction , (I took for something akin last year but my supply are at home !!! ) except I might have to drive as hubby bless him has a wicked sore throat and is starting toa feeling rough. This morning in Ireland there's a beautiful blue sky and not a rain cloud in sight.

Good morning Jo,

What a rotten end to your long looked forward to holiday...I am so very sorry; honestly tooth pain is the pits and I hope it will be eased very soon. When it hits like this you could be a million miles from home and you just want to be back. My sympathies. Have a safe journey.

xx

Thank you. Am now well on the way home. We are in a lovely B&b about 50 miles outside Dublin. Not a nice time getting here, felt every bump. This time tomorrow will be in UK. .......whoopee.

So sorry Jo, that you're long awaited holiday has been cut short by toothache. Such a painful condition!

When you feel better please come back & tell us about your experience of Normandy. I'd love to hear what it's like there.

Hope you have a safe journey home & I'm sure you'll feel so much better in your own house. Take care 🌹

So sorry, the toothache is spoiling what should have been a great holiday. I hope you are OK getting home and that your Dentist can soon sort it out. Have you tried alcohol rubbed on the gums? It may ease it. X

Thank you........what a nice thought , I could do with a tot or two right now ......... . But can't. This one antibiotic that's caused the itchy rash , instructions are for no alcohol during treatment or for at least 48 hours after . Can you believe it. ! .......will be on the telephone 8-30 am Tuesday. After the dentist will ring GP next and get this put on my records for future reference ......have a head like a sieve although don't think I will forget this in a hurry.

Thank you ......you are so right , staying any longer would have been silly. Getting home is not as easy as I thought. Have yet to find a bump free road !!.

Yes, it is lovely in Ireland today and a shame you have to leave before time. If it's any consolation to you the weather is due to dis- improve this week. The ferry and driving holiday gives great flexibility doesn't it ? Having to change dates to come home is much less stressful, then trying to change flights. Sounds like you had a good time in Normandy and Ireland, so at least you did have your holiday and got to do a bit of travelling. Hope the rest of the trip home isn't too tedious.
