Our Yorkshire Rose.

I bought a rose today, for thee Lass,

chosen with great care

I wanted just the best for thee Lass,

and when I first held it I was sure,

It was really you in the sunlight smiling,

almost standing there.

I bought a rose today, for thee Lass,

I know well how they lift your heart.

I took my time to bide for the right one

yet the beauty of this one, had me start.

I bought a rose today, for thee Lass

Its delicate, a wonder, perfection stopped yet unstilled..

It’s a delight of a scent from Heaven, to you Lass

My thoughts had my eyes quick tear filled.

I bought a rose today, for thee Lass

Its good and pure and strong

Its Just for you alone Lass,

So sure, so straight, minds me of you Lass,

and its colours of life are its song.

I bought a rose today, for thee Lass,

As I always will every year

And though I have grieved for nigh on twenty,.

its through that rose that chooses me, aye, chooses me,

That I know that You must be here.

You chose a rose today Lass,

and I held it close and near.

I try to reach through all that’s between us

And I wish with all my heart Lass, all my heart,

I wish that you were here.

I write poetry every now and again, or what I hope will pass for it.

Like a wind blowing by with the ghost of a song,

and I write what I can of it.

It`s one thing I can still do.

I don`t need strong bones,

or to heave a great weight,

Just enough stamina.....

to procrastinate.......
