Hi I would phone NHS 24 just to be on the safe side is your o2 level that low when you are sitting. I have to phone my resp team if mine falls below 91 take care. Let us know how you get on xx
Hi jb1960 a warm welcome to our informative and friendly forum.
Your oxygen levels are quite low on exertion and I would be inclined to ring the NHS Helpline tel: 111 and ask their advice about it.
You mention in your first post that you have had COPD for 5 years. I assume therefore that you are under a Pulmonary Consultant and will have had Lung Function tests to find out the condition of your lungs. Have you done the 6 minute walk test? They use the results from this test to determine if you need oxygen.
Take care.
Regards. John
Hi John,I only see my Gp when I need to,Im due to have another lung function test in october but don't feel I can wait till then,I done the 6 minute walk on thurs as Im due to start rehab classes tomorrow,my oxygen levels fell to 80 then, the physio says she'll keep an eye on my levels tomorrow & if it happens again she will need to refer me back to the hospital

Hi Jeanette did you phone NHS24.
No it's not so see your doctor asap. If your sats regularly drop below 90% and especially under 84% you could be causing damage to your other organs. x
If your sats fall to 80 on exercise, at the very least you need ambulatory oxygen. Organ damage can occur when sats fall below 88 for any length of time. I would be pushing for some help, I think you need it. Good luck.
i was told that it was because my oxygen levels where taking too long to get back to normally is why i was put on oxygen.
Hi guys, chest infection was causing the problem with my oxygen levels, usual meds, hope fully they'll kick in quick,,been referred for another breathing test asap to see if there's much change
