Went for my first rehab been told I can attend but not for few weeks as I would have to be monitored with oxygen on hand as says drop when I am moving. So why do my doc only ever do it when I am sat down and it is ok

Hi

GPs are no longer involved in prescribing oxygen, it was on my pulmonary rehablitation assessment that I discovered I required Ambulitory oxygen for moving around and exercise , 2lpm.

If you find you need oxygen ask about all the options available and choose the best that suit you and you requirements.

Options are cylinder with bag and trolley, liquid oxygen, or if available portable concentrater comes with trolley.

It is only extra medication not to be feared.

The Gps dont ever do that but now they are aware of it you should be sent for an oxygen assessment and will get you sorted out to do PR

Im on oxygen and just finishing my PR group so dont worry you will be fine doing it

Just to let you know that I suffered breathless for nearly two years. It got so bad. Eventually I got my doctor to refer me to the hospital. To my surprised I was prescribed oxygen same day. The consultant couldn't believe how I've been coping without. She told me that's very dangerous. Please get your doctor to refer you heart & lung specialist hospital .. I attend Royal Brompton in London. I don't know where you leave. Also if you're walking your oxygen level should be increased. That's what they told me. I'm on 4 litres. Walking is on 6 litres. Hope this information help.
