COPD and chemotherapy

My prescription is 16 hours oxygen at 1 litre. After my chemo (for breast cancer) yesterday my oxygen levels have really dropped - after all night on oxygen down to 77. Dropping to 65 if I come off oxygen or walk to the bathroom even on oxygen. Not sure how best to deal with this. Respiratory nurses have not been helpful. Has anyone any similar experience? At the moment I have turned it up to 1 1/4 even though I know this would be frowned on but my oxygen is back up to 86 at rest. Any advice/information would be appreciated.

Oh Dear Barb, This must be dealt with. You can call Repiritory or BLF and the Nurse will come to see you . I have never had a Problem with them. If I were to drop to this low on or off my Oxygen, think My Hubby would take me immediately to hospital, even though it's bank Holiday, you have to sort this out...Good Luck Barb. xxx

Thanks for your advice but I think I'll be ok. I have tried to explain to respiratory nurses before but basically they don't seem to believe me and have never been here when it is happening. I will have to carry on using my oxygen as I need it - which at the moment is a lot more than the 16 hours.

Thank you but I'm ok with oxygen- up to 86 now. There is no way I'm going to a hospital waiting room with my immune system. I do not want to make too much fuss either because I'm scared they may stop chemo which is my main hope at the moment.

I'm so sad for you feeling this way. I understand about picking up Bugs, I wear a Mask in any waiting area. I am waiting for Transplant, we have a lot of worries with COPD. But you have double Worry with Chemo also. Your 02 level has gone up to 86, my Darling that is still low, bit as bad as 65, please never think your making a fuss , our NHS are Superb and would never treat you any differently. If you need to raise your oxygen to 2, do so under these conditions, I am from 1 to 3, mobile, at home I'm on almost 2. Please le 4th us know how you get on. Hugs to you. Carolina xxx

I still think 82 Oxygen levels are low, so I was told people with COPD. 88 Oxygen levels is the minimum.

This sounds bad. See the Resp team and doctor soon as poss. Could be due to hot weather?
